Features and operating principle
Precast concrete Bicameral/Tricameral Underground Septic Tanks made in compliance with the UNI EN 12566-1 standard by a company operating with a quality system in compliance with the UNI EN ISO 9001 regulation must ensure a suitable continuous input, permanence of untreated slurry and clarified slurry as an output. Walls must be waterproof; the tank must be completely underground and equipped with a ventilation pipe such to avoid foul odors. Bicameral/tricameral septic tanks must have an access door on top for regular inspections. Sludge and crust extraction is performed on a regular basis, usually from 1 to 4 times a year. Biogas produced during fermentation is released through the side vents next to the inlet opening, which must always be connected and led to the top cover.
Precast concrete bicameral/tricameral septic tanks are composed of a series of adjacent compartments connected with each other by systems aimed at reducing sludge and foam transition. This kind of septic tanks are composed of 2 or 3 compartments with different volumetric ratios between them - 2:1 and 2:1:1 - with a venting pipe for gas outlet, installed at a suitable height to avoid smell.
Supply specifications
Delivery and installation of Underground Bicameral / Tricameral septic Tank manufactured in DECLARED SERIES Mod. VSB____ or VST____ , UNI EN 12566-1 compliant, with external dimensions: cm.___x___x h.___ , effective volume ______ lt, for____P.E. with 250/225 lt., for____P.E. with 200 lt., for ____P.E. with 150 lt., manufactured by EDIL IMPIANTI 2 S.r.l. with UNI EN ISO 9001 and ISO 45001 management system made of monoblock vibrated concrete, reinforced with vertical pillars and stainless steel horizontal beams, with CE-certified materials, concrete in compressive strength class C45/55 (RCK >55 N/mm²), internal improved-adhesion steel reinforcements checked in our plant, GREESMIX5® steel fibers (patent No. 0001421398 issued by the Ministry for Economic Development) and electro-welded square mesh B450C, with certification of CHEMICAL RESISTANCE and REACTION TO FIRE (Class A1) issued by an external body based on UNI EN standards.
The Bicameral/Tricameral Tank is delivered with:
- inlet/outlet opening arrangement;
- inlet-side vent arrangement;
- Vibrated reinforced concrete partition wall/s with connection holes for compartment partition.
The Bicameral/Tricameral Septic Tank can - on demand- be equipped with:
- PVC tee connections or AISI 304 stainless steel baffles.
Regulation
UNI EN 12566-1 small wastewater treatment systems up to 50 PE Part 1: precast septic tanks.
Leg. Decree 152/06 and resolution of the Emilia-Romagna Regional Council 1053/2003 domestic wastewater not discharged into public sewers, discharge into surface water.

Suggestions and technical information
The concrete Septic Tank and the Imhoff Tank are a primary pre-treatment and must be integrated with: Biodiscs, activated sludge, constructed wetland, MBBR, MBR, SBR, reedbeds, biological aerated filters (BAFs), aerobic and anaerobic trickling filters.
