Features and operating principle
Foreword: Phyto-purification allows for the purification of organic-origin water by harnessing the ability of certain plants to absorb a large quantity of pollutants (such as nitrogen and phosphorus) and fix heavy metals (pollutants from industrial discharges) for their growth. These phyto-purification plants, thanks to their roots, can transport oxygen into the filter and provide support to the aerobic bacteria that are essential for nitrification. Horizontal phyto-purification systems consist of soil basins waterproofed with plastic liners, filled with gravel of suitable granulometry, where rooted macrophytes such as: Phragmites Australis, Typha Latifolia, Scirpus Lacustris, Juncus Effusus, Iris Pseudacorus, Carex Acquatilis are planted.

The Horizontal Phytodepuration System is supplied complete with:
- Filtration Manhole dim. 70x70xh75 + cast iron cover, weight: 3.3 ql, supplied complete with PVC inlet/outlet DN110 fittings with watertight seals and Refill type filter for water filtration with AISI 304 stainless steel frame and guides, code POZZETTOFILTRAZ;
- High-density reinforced waterproof geomembrane;
- Geotextile (non-woven fabric 250 g/sqm);
- Corrugated drainage piping diam. 110 mm;
- Treated wastewater drainage collectors in PVC diam. 110 mm, including aeration vents;
- Wastewater distribution collectors in PVC diam. 110 mm, including special pieces such as bends, tees, etc.;
- Waterproof geomembrane crossing flanges 110 mm;
- Level Adjustment Manhole dim. 100x100xh100 without cover, code POZZETTOREGOLAZ + cov. h 20 cm, total weight: 15.7 ql, supplied complete with PVC inlet/outlet DN110 fittings;
- Three-height level regulation system made of PVC;
- Consumable materials.
Exclusions:
- Excavation according to Edil Impianti 2 Srl specifications;
- Installation of supplied material for basin setup;
- Supply and installation in two phases of 30/60mm cobbles and screened, washed round/crushed 4/8 mm gravel to be laid as basin filling using suitable means;
- Supply and planting of plant species according to Edil Impianti 2 Srl specifications (approx. 3 per sqm);
- Connection piping between treatment steps upstream or downstream of this system.

Applications
Horizontal Phyto-purification systems are used to purify point and diffuse pollution sources, including stormwater runoff, domestic wastewater, and agricultural and livestock wastewater.
Phyto-purification systems are also used to treat landfill leachate, industrial wastewater (from paper mills, textile industries, food industries, and wineries).

Phyto-purification systems for the treatment of wastewater from: Residential buildings, schools, isolated houses, villages, restaurants, hotels, residences, campsites, farmhouses, beach resorts, dairies, cured meat factories, sports centers, agricultural, wine, livestock, and olive oil mill activities, car washes, finishing with zeolite, lagooning, riding stables, racetracks, kennels, renaturalization. Phyto-purification systems as a final finishing step.
